The US Treasury just set a new record. On Sept. 15, our federal government received $85.8 billion dollars in taxes. In one day.

For a little perspective, ExxonMobil made a record profit of $10.7 billion in last year's 4th quarter, $36.13 billion for the whole year.

Why is it outrageous that Exxon makes $36 billion over an entire year, but we just shrug when we pay $86 billion in one day to the government? Is the government immune to examination? Who provides a better service, and how many of us get what we pay for from Exxon vs. the Federal Government? Sounds like tax gouging to me.
