Party Lines

Party Lines is an opportunity to see an issue from the Democrat’s perspective, the Republican’s perspective and the ARO’s perspective. The ARO supports open debate and the free exchange of ideas. There are many problems facing our Nation and many issues dividing the electorate - may the best ideas win.

The format of Party Lines is essentially an email debate column. Each side will open with a brief position on the issue. Then each side will be give the chance respond to the other’s position. Depending on the debate, there will be 1 or 2 further rebuttals before the discussion is closed. As appropriate, the Editors of the ARO will interject and respond to comments on either or both sides.

To facilitate ease of readership, the debates text will be color coded to their respective party colors and sides: The Republican view will be red and to the right, while the Democratic view will be blue and to the left. ARO comments will be in black text. Our party reps are outlined below:

For the Democrats: James is the Senior Pastor of a church and the Treasurer for the local Democratic Party. He desires for his church and his government to help hurting and needy people.

For the Republicans: Chris Miller is the current President of the Tennessee Organization of MBAs and works in community investment venture capital. In a past occupation, Chris worked as a leadership development coach, planning and directed leadership conferences for thousands of young leaders from across the globe. During that time, Chris hosted leadership conferences in conjunction with the 2004 Republican National Convention and the 2004 Inauguration of George W. Bush. His republican roots started young, growing up in the same town as Fred Thompson and sharing his ideals of American federalism.
